Count words, characters (with and without spaces), lines, paragraphs, and sentences as you type — built for both English and Chinese text. CJK characters are counted individually and Latin words as words, so mixed-language drafts get accurate numbers instead of a rough guess.
Writers use it for essay limits and article briefs; students for assignment requirements; translators for quotes based on character counts. Everything is counted locally in your browser — paste confidential drafts freely.
Chinese does not separate words with spaces, so the counter treats each CJK character as one word — the standard convention for Chinese word counts — while English words are counted space-delimited. Mixed text adds both together.
Both are shown: "Characters" includes every character including spaces and newlines; "No spaces" strips whitespace. Platforms usually want the total, but some forms count only non-space characters.
At roughly 200 English words or 300 Chinese characters per minute for on-screen reading. Treat it as an estimate — technical content reads slower, fiction faster.
